ESA Awards Asynchronics €450k for Servicing Satellite Simulation

press release

WARSAW, SEPTEMBER 22, 2025 – Asynchronics, a Polish space startup, together with French company Infinite Orbits, has won a contract from the European Space Agency (ESA) under the RPA program. The value of the project is €450,000. Its aim is to create a digital twin of an on-orbit servicing satellite – a solution that will enable safe and efficient software testing and operator training for future servicing missions. This is a significant step for the development of European capabilities in the field of in-orbit servicing.

The dynamic growth of so-called NewSpace has made small satellites cheaper and more accessible. However, they still struggle with reliability issues – statistics show that more than 40% of such missions end in failure. One reason is the limited use of advanced simulations, which have been standard among large space system integrators for years. The lack of proper testing tools increases risk, slows down mission preparation, and raises costs.

The SAVIOR project, carried out by Asynchronics as part of Infinite Orbits’ mission, addresses these challenges. It foresees the development of a high-fidelity digital twin of a servicing satellite, which will allow software to be tested in conditions as close to real as possible and train operators in proximity and docking maneuvers. The solution will be used in the commercial Endurance mission, whose goal is to extend the life of telecommunications satellites in orbit. Creating such a simulation environment will allow operators to practice complex scenarios and minimize the risk of failure in real conditions.

“This is a tremendous success for us and proof that Polish technologies can play a central role in ESA’s most ambitious programs. The SAVIOR project demonstrates the future of Europe’s space sector – digital twins will enable safe and efficient preparation of servicing missions that will revolutionize the way we use satellites. We are proud that Asynchronics is developing this technology in Poland and building competencies that will also be imporant for the defense sector,” said Adam Chikha, COO of Asynchronics.

Less than 20% of applications were accepted into the ESA RPA program, which makes Asynchronics’ success particularly valuable. The company is developing rapidly – it currently employs nine specialists, has recently closed a pre-seed round, and is already carrying out several international projects, including ASCEND under ESA, ESA BIC incubation, and a Horizon Europe project with Airbus and Safran. Fast growth and new contracts show that Asynchronics is becoming one of the most promising players in the Polish space sector.

Asynchronics announces further development of its NeXosim technology, which forms the basis of the SAVIOR project, and its commercialization in Europe. Plans also include expanding international cooperation and participating in further ESA programs, as well as seeking the first projects in the defence sector.
